Replacing the O

If you are good with your hands, you can try this:
  • Here's how to apply the vinyl O. You can use these instructions for the vinyl dot on the oStylus DOT as well. If you don't think you can handle this fine detail work, we will soon be setting up an option of replacing the whole O so email us. Okay, first peel off the old vinyl. This is where you discover how tough the adhesive is. You can remove any adhesive or vinyl residue with acetone or nail polish remover. With the new vinyl strip, curve it back slightly and using a knife edge (small Xacto knife works) lift an edge of an O, then peel it off holding it with the blade on one edge. Carefully centre it over the flat steel contact pad and press it down with your finger. If the centre circle has come with it, don't worry, simply push it through the hole and throw it away. Now rub the contact pad gently on some soft paper to make the contact secure. You're done! In a pinch, other self-adhesive films work such as MacTac (shelf plastic), and masking tape. They must be thin enough for the screen to detect the electrostatic charge of the body.
  •
  • The whole O unit can be pried off the wires if you try hard enough. It is held in place by the spring tension of the titanium wires. If it should come off, you can easily put it back by inserting one wire end, then the other. If you lose it, please email us for a replacement part. Do not overbend the wires. Repeated overbending of the wires can lead to metal fatigue and breakage.
